Although described as the diet the humans in the Paleolithic Age followed, the first known study of the diet's effectiveness was carried out by gastroenterologist Walter Voegtlin. His book, "Stone Age Diet", written in 1975 details how humans are supposed to eat more protein and why humans are not fit to have plant-based diets. More research has been done on the "Paleo Diet" and it reached its peak of popularity in 2013.
