dec 16, 1944 - Battle of the Bulge
On December 16, 1944, during the month long fight named the Battle of the Bulge, U.S. Troops resisted German tank attacks, lack of materials and a lack of winter clothing against the bitter cold. When General George Patton arrived with his troops, the Allied soldiers were able to hold off Hitler’s army. By the end of the year the Soviets had made their way through Poland, Eastern Europe, and the Balkan Peninsula.
