The Colombian Exchange brought many new crops and goods to Europe, one of which being the potato. The true value of the potato wasn't seen until the start of the 1700's where the nutritional value, grow time, and adaptability of the potato came to light. They were easy to grow and yielded high numbers, which lead to the Royal Society of London for Improving Natural Knowledge advocating for the potato
