oct 13, 1828 - Beverly Cotton Manufactory burns down

Description:

This was the first cotton mill built in America, and the largest at its time. It was built with economic promise but fell short due to technical limitations. Despite this, it's considered the birth place of the American Industrial Revolution. Even George Washington visited it in 1789.
