mar 6, 1857 - Scott v Stanford
Scott was a slave that moved into the free state of Illinois and Wisconsin. His owner died and his widow wanted him back. Scott tried during her saying that he was a free man. The court however voted 7-2 in favor of the slave owner. But later his widow married an antislavery Massachusetts politician and freed Scott.
