This Battle was a major success for the United States in which they sank four of Japan's aircraft carriers, while the US only lost one. This was a turning point in the Pacific because Japan was unable to recover after losing so many ships, pilots, and planes. This event allowed the US to turn the tables and got them back on their feet.
