Description:
Hitler attempted to split the Allied armies in northwest Europe for as one of their last surprise attacks. Germany launched the attack which gave the United States a hard time fighting back. One US division was almost completely annihilated! As German armies went deeper into the attack the Allied front took on the appearance of a protrusion or bulge. It was the largest and bloodiest battle fought between the United States and Germany
