jun 4, 1942 - Battle of Midway
The Japanese sought to eliminate US power in the Pacific. They hoped that this attack would discourage the US just like the Pearl Harbor attack, which would ultimately lead to total control in the Pacific. The Japanese lured American aircraft carriers into a trap. But word spread to the US and they began to plan their own ambush in return. This battle led to more casualties and made US training and industrial capabilities easy to replace.
