dec 27, 1765 - Stamp act passed
Description:
The Stamp Act was a tax for the American colonists because the Empire was in deep debt and decided to tax the colonists of the Empire. The act put a tax on all paper documents in the colonies, but the colonists didn't agree with the tax and they turned to mob violence to scare the stamp collectors to resign. The parliament repealed the Stamp Act in 1776, but put in the Declaratory Act to reaffirm it's authority to pass any colonial legislation it saw fit.
