Description:

The Toronto Huskies were founded in 1946. The team was owned by Ben Newman, Erick Cradock and Harold Shannon. The team manger was Lew Hayman. Their first NBA game was located at the Maple Leafs Garden Arena in Toronto, Ontario on November 1st, 1946. They were facing against the New York Knickerbockers. The Toronto Huskies played the first game of the National Basketball Association. The Toronto Huskies were the first Canadian team in the NBA. The Toronto Huskies had a short run. They only played 1 season because none of the coaches would coach another game after their time in Toronto. This is important to Canada's history because the Toronto Huskies were the first Canadian team to be in the biggest league called The Nation Basketball Association. The Toronto Huskies and the Vancouver Giants brought major professional basketball to Canada for the first time.
