apr 9, 1865 - General Lee Surrenders
On April 9th 1865 Gen. Robert E. Lee surrenders his confederate troops to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant of the Union. Lee surrendered in the parlor of his house. This event is important because it acted as a domino effect. After Lee surrendered slowly all the other confederate generals started to surrender as well, so in a way this event single handedly ended the Civil war.
