Description:
Operation Torch, headed by General Dwight
Eisenhower, landed American and Allied tanks and troops at points in Morocco and Algeria,
which then fought east across North Africa, eventually meeting up with Montgomery’s British forces in Tunisia. This is significant because there, Rommel’s forces surrendered to
the Allies in May of 1943.
