jan 1, 1774 - Quebec act passes; First Continental Conference

Description:

The Quebec Act made the French the official language and Roman Catholicism the official Religion in the Quebec colony. Lots of land in the Ohio Valley was added to Quebec which kept Canadians loyal to Britain while angering the Patriots because it prevented Americans from settling in that land. This act was considered one of the Intolerable Acts and only lead America closer to revolution. In September 1774, all 13 colonies sent a representative to the first Continental Congress in Philadelphia, they decided to stop buying goods from England. Both Americans and the British started preparing for war.
