jan 1, 1870 - Fifteenth Amendment
Description:
The 15th Amendment states: "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude." This was one of the most monumental changes in US history because it legally gave former slaves (and all black men) the right to vote giving them a boost towards equality.
