Description:
303 Dakota men were convicted of murdering civilians. After Abraham Lincoln looked over the convictions, he called for 264 of men to have their sentences carried out. Abraham Lincoln then signs a sheet ordering 39 of the men to be hanged, but one of the men was spared right before the sentence. The rest of the men were hanged in Mankato, making it the largest execution in U.S. history.
