jan 21, 1910 - Angel Island
Description:
Angel Island was an immigration station located in San Francisco Bay. Immigrants who entered Angel Island were detained and interrogated. This island held hundreds of thousands of immigrants from Japan, India, China and other places. The location was ideal because of it's isolation, which made it easier to control the immigrants and enforce immigrant laws. Immigrants stayed here for days, and sometimes months. Angel Island is significant because it made the lives of immigrants immensely harder than it already was, and they faced inhumane conditions at times.
