Description:
This was the most significant naval battle of the entire war. The battle was fought between the USS Monitor and the CSS Virginia. The Monitor intercepted Virginia as it tried to destroy the USS Minnesota. They went 3 hours of fighting without damage. This battle received attention worldwide to a point where Great Britain and France stopped constructing wooden ships and began producing ironclad ships.
