nov 18, 1883 - Time zones invented in U.S.
Description:
Many railroad companies had struggled with scheduling departures and arrivals throughout the states due to their differences in time. As a result, four time zones were established to create a uniform schedule. The creation of time zones is significant because it helped railroads run more effectively and aided with the organization of the numerous departures and arrivals. Furthermore, we use these time zones today in the United States for more than just transportation.
