feb 3, 1870 - 15th Amendment ratified
Description:
The 15th Amendment further granted African Americans more civil rights and responsibilities. It had declared that the right to vote shall not be denied on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. This is a significant amendment because it provided a newfound sense of belonging and freedom for African Americans. Now that they could vote, former slaves could voice their opinions on certain issues and become involved in politics.
