aug 28, 1862 - Dakotas second strike on New Ulm
Dakota soldiers surround the new ulm town slowly moving the fight into the town using the outskirt buildings as cover. They start to fire at the towns defenders from doorways/windows while some of little crow's men start to set fire to some of the buildings near the river. After a lot of hours of fighting, the defenders desperately charge at the Dakota soldiers by even setting the Dakotas cover-buildings on fire. The Dakota retreat at sunset leaving 32 people of the town dead and more than 60 people wounded.
