Description:
After the Kansas-Nebraska Act, Kansas was able to decide whether it wanted to become a slave or free state. The Lecompton Constitution was created in order for Kansas to become a slave state. It was pushed through Congress to be accepted, but due to much resistance, the constitution was sent back to Kansas to vote on. In the end, Kansas voted against the constitution and became a free state.
