Description:
Abraham Lincoln was elected on November 6, 1860, and as a result the South Carolina legislature called for a state secession convention in order to remove itself from the Union. Eventually, South Carolina and six other states (Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas) seceded from the Union.
