Description:
Nat Turner was an American slave who led a rebellion of slaves and free blacks in Southampton County, Virginia on August 21, 1831. In Virginia, in the summer of 1831, he led about seventy others on a rampage from plantation to plantation. They murdered at least fifty-five men, women, and children, As their ammunition ran out, they were captured. Turner and others were hanged.
