14h 46min, oct 23, 1944 y - Battle of Leyte Gulf

Description:

The Empire of Japan had invaded the Commonwealth of the Philippines in 1941 and had complete control of the place. But on October 23, 1944, the United States landed on Philippine territory and its troops began to fight against the Japanese forces to expel them. The contest, which was lived mainly in the Gulf of Leyte, consisted of great naval and land fighting, which also led to great casualties for both sides. Also, as the Japanese were losing too much ground, they launched their suicide kamikaze planes in a desperate bid to win. But three days after the start of the war, the Americans crushed the Japanese and expelled them from the Philippines.

After the conquest of the Philippines, US forces isolated the Japanese who were still in most of the Netherlands East Indies.
