Over the past years of the discovery of land, the European Americans were here to buy land from the Dakota.Treaties were later signed in exchanged for goods.The Treaty of Traverse des Sioux and the Treaty of Mendota were signed that same year 1851.The same year the Dakota signed that document promising traders they would pay over $300,000.
