Description:
Viewed as the event that started the civil war, Fort Sumter was attacked by Confederate forces on April 12th of 1861. The fight lasted 34 hours and every minute of it was filled with artillery fire and gun fire. The fort was surrendered on April 13th 1861 by the remaining 86 Union soldiers.
