Sir Wilfred Laurier was the 7th Prime Minister of Canada from 1896-1911. He was a lawyer,journalist and a politician and ran his own newspaper named “Le Defricheur”. Laurier was the first French-Canadian Prime Minister and helped expand Confederation and tried to compromise between French and English Canada. He played a role in the creation of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
