Description:
At about 3:00 100 Dakota soldiers attacked New Ulm. After about 2 hours of fighting the Dakota backed off because of torrential rain. Word of the attack spread to St. Paul, and Henry Sibley gathered his forces mostly untrained civilians, and heads up the valley in pursuit of the Dakota.
