Description:

The person who wrote the poem is Major John McCrae. The inspiration for this poem came from the death of his friend lieutenant Alexis Helmer. The event was fighting the second Battle of Ypres on May 2nd 1915. The Battle of Ypres- 1st World war- Between the German and the allied armies ( Belgian, French, British and Canadian armies). A lot of soldiers died, wounded or still missing. John ( 30 November 1872-28 January 1918). Morning of Sunday 2nd May 1915- death of Lieutenant Alexis Helmer. The event take place in a town called Belgian, province of west Flanders's. This poem tells tragedy of war and death. This poem asks the new generations to protect Canada in the world and to protect the innocence. This is important for others students to read this poem and always not to forget.
