Description:

In the 1860's the British Parliament passed the Contagious Diseases Act which required prostitutes to get tested for diseases and be put in a prison hospital if they were found to be infected. Josephine Butler, a feminist and reformer, forced them to repeal the act in 1886 after campaigning for reform for years.
