Description:
The government is withholding annuities in order to force the Dakota to sign more treaties. The traders refuse to extend credit when the annuities are late, leaving the Dakota starving. Then four young men kill five settlers near Acton, and the “‘Soldiers’ Lodge” coerces Little Crow into war.
