Description:
At Fort Wrigley Sibley sends out a burial party to locate and bury all of the remains of the townspeople. The burial party is attacked by the Dakota at Birch Coulee. “One of the hardest fought battles of the war.” The Dakota kept fighting for 36 hours before help arrives from Fort Ridgely for the settlers.
