aug 19, 1942 - The Dieppe Raid
Description:
The Dieppe Raid was an Allied attack on the German occupied port. This raid ended in German victory after approximately six hours after the Allied commanders were forced to call a retreat. Less then ten hours after the first landing, the remaining Allied troops had been either killed, evacuated, or left behind to be captured. This is significant to Canada due to their significant role in this raid, as over 6,000 infantrymen were involved and 5,000 had been Canadian soldiers.
