jan 1, 1879 - Thomas Edison uses the lightbulb
Description:
Although Thomas Edison did not create the lightbulb, he was the one who found out how to use it. In 1879, Edison used a lightbulb to light a lamp. This was arguably the most revolutionary and important invention as it allowed Americans to do many things such as work in the night, have light at home or at work, and even be able to use less resources and all you had to do was switch and switch instead of using a candle. This greatly impacted the American Dream as it allowed millions to have much easier lives, with a very easy access to light.
