jan 2, 1865 - Thirteenth Amendment

Description:

Once the Civil War ended, slaves were formally freed. African Americans now counted as full rather than 3/5 citizens. However, several states filed Black Codes to prevent African Americans from voting. The plan under Reconstruction was that African Americans living in the south would receive full privileges of citizenship.
