aug 29, 1995 - Windows 95
Description:
Windows 95 was one of Microsoft's most popular products when it was first released, putting them over the top in their race against Netscape. The immense success of the product was partially due to its 'active desktop' concept, which basically allowed the internet content to be directly displayed on the desktop. It was also released with MSN (Microsoft Network) included. By doing this, Microsoft aimed to have MSN act as a parallel network to the World Wide Web, however they were unsuccesful.
