jul 16, 1798 - Act for the Relief of Sick and Disabled Seamen is passed (America)
Description:
This act was passed by the 5th Congress and signed in by John Adams. Through it, many port cities obtained marine hospitals which provided care for seamen, who typically developed illness while at sea and could not obtain adequate healthcare.
