Identity- The bishops still led Basel. Basel became separated into Kleinbasel and Grossbasel. An exterior wall was also built in effort to help reconstruct Basel after the tragic occurrence of the earthquake. The same time as the earthquake the plague went through the city and killed a large part of the population. The earthquake lead to reconstructing the city and leveled out the city. During the 14th to 15th century, the power of the city left the church and moved to civil administration.
