Description:
Though the United States government tried to keep the training camps secret, it was common knowledge to the Cuban exiles. Cuban intelligence in the U.S. was able to alert Castro as early as October of 1960, before the camps were ever established. Castro knew of the plan and many lives were lost due to lack of confidentiality.
