Description:
In preparation for an election mainly on the issue of conscription (mandatory military service) the government changed the election rules. Some Canadian women were able to vote for the first time, while they took the vote away from many Canadians who had immigrated from enemy countries. The Act was passed by Prime Minister Robert Borden Conservative government.
