jun 1, 1812 - War of 1812
Description:
The War of 1812 was the war for Canada’s independence. Before declaring independence, Canada was “apart” of the United States. Canada wanted to separate and be their own individual country. The War of 1812 was a war between the French and British, against the Americans. Canadian heroine, Laura Secord, helped Canada gain the independence it has today. If it weren’t for Laura Secord’s courage to walk 32 km through the woods and alert the British about the attack the Americans were planning after what she overheard, Canada’s history would’ve been completely different to how we know it today. (The War of 1812 ended in February 1815)
