may 25, 2008 - 2008 - NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander Lands on Mars
Description:
Landed on the north polar region of Mars. In short, it's robotic arm dug into Martian soil and the presence of water and ice was therefore confirmed on June 20, 2008. Basically what this lander did for us was confirm that water does not exist on the surface of Mars like it does on Earth, rather, it exists blow ground level. The robotic arm brought soil and water ice to the surface of scientific analysis.
