11h 19min, dec 10, 1936 y - FDR wins the presidency
Description:
The senate gives the presidency to FDR, as many predicted. Both the German and British governments are relieved, although for seperate reasons. Despite the closeness of the race, many accept FDR as a good choice, although the Communist party is still a major player in U.S. politics. Many view this election as the end for the republican party, who is still blamed for the great depression. When asked by reporters how he felt about the election Maurice Thorez simply states that "The people of the United States has missed a great opportunity, but they can still guide their country to greatness."
