Phil LaTendresse develops the world's first extended-reach rough terrain forklift in 1949 (the Cary-Lift); sells manufacturing and marketing rights to Pettibone in 1951. Operation renamed Pettibone Michigan and moves from L'Anse to Baraga, MI in 1957. Now operates as Pettibone/Traverse Lift LLC and produces Cary-Lifts, Extendo telescopic handlers, and Speed Swing loaders and cranes.
