From 1804 to 1813, the Serbs were the first to revolt against the Ottomans. The struggle was led by the Serb Leader Karageorge but was unsuccessful. It brought a sense of Serbian culture and literature. In 1815 Milos Obrenovic led Serbia to a second more successful rebellion. The allies of the Serbs, Russia had assisted the Serbs. Because of the similarities that the Russians and Serbs had like the Christian Orthodox and the Slavic Language. In 1830, the Russians finally helped the Sers win self-rule within the Ottoman Empire. The Russians would continue to defend the Serbian Ideals
