jan 1, 1763 - Legacy of the French and Indian War (1763) (p.138)
About 25,000 British troops were in the colonies by the time the French and Indian War had ended in 1763.
Much to the annoyment of the colonists, 10,000 British troops remained behind even after the war had ended.
The colonists saw this as an infringement of their freedoms and an aggressive act by the British.
The presence of these troops would stress the relationship between the ruler and the ruled, eventually leading to an uprising years later.
