nov 6, 1860 - Election of 1860

Description:

The Election of 1860 was when Abraham Lincoln was elected president in the United States. The north advocated for Lincoln and the south opposed him. Shortly after Lincoln was elected South Carolina held a special convention and signed the Articles of Secession. This stated that South Carolina was no longer part of the United States. They felt that their rights would not be protected with Lincoln as president because he believed in "free soil."
