nov 26, 1941 - *Raid Mila's Home
Description:
But in the eyes of the Gestapo she was an ‘Untermensch’, a Slav. Reinhard Heydrich, the Reichsprotektor of Bohemia and Moravia, was outraged by the notion that the brother of an Aryan idol was to wed such a woman. To announce his emphatic disapproval, he sent a posse of Gestapo thugs to Mila’s family home, and the house was duly ransacked. News of this incident sent shock waves through Hermann’s offices in Berlin; Hermann had been completely unaware of his brother’s engagement. The man, with all the eyes and ears of the Forschungsamt (FA) at his disposal, was caught out and immediately demanded that Albert travel to Berlin to explain himself.[126] In Berlin, Albert stood his ground and explained that he was not a member of the Nazi Party and could thus do what he pleased. He was apparently so convincing that Hermann ended up siding with him and sent Bodenschatz, his aide-de-camp, to Prague to smooth things over with Heydrich.
