Description:
Unification:
Otto von Bismarck succeeded in uniting Germany and Bismarck in 1862. During 1862, King William I made Otto von Bismarck a chancellor. As chancellor, Bismarck was a Realpolitik, meaning that he based his politics on the needs of the state. This made it so the Hohenzollerns gave him their primary loyalty. By uniting the two, he sought to bring more power to the Hohenzollerns. As he strengthened the Prussian army and went to fight, each war increased the Prussian power and paved a road to German Unity.
