John Brown's Raid was an attempted slave revolt on Harper's Ferry in Virginia. John Brown and his five sons took actions against southern slaveholders who found out about Brown's plans and fought back against him and his sons. All five of the boys lost her lives and John was publicly executed for his crimes, but far more came from this attempted revolt. The north and south were torn further apart, sectionalism was increased, and abolitionists and freed slaves were considered a threat to the south.
